Amanda Isaksson
Hello! My name is Amanda Isaksson and I have been teaching with GMEI since 2021. I earned my BS in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 2008. After I graduated, I joined AmeriCorps which brought me down to South Carolina. After completing my service in 2010, my Montessori teaching career began when I was hired to be an pre-primary assistant at a Montessori school in Spartanburg, SC. After teaching there for three years I moved back to the Midwest and landed at the school where I'm currently teaching - Woodland Montessori School in Madison, WI. Since my time at Woodland, I have earned my 0 - 3 Montessori credential from Seton Montessori Institute in 2013, served on the Board of Directors as a Staff Representative, Diversity and Equity Committee, COVID-19 Task Force and led several Parent Education seminars. I am currently the Toddler 2 Co-lead teacher where I guide 10 two- and three-year-old children.
Outside of work, I enjoy camping, cooking, gardening, running, celebrating holidays, and soaking up time with my children, husband and our dogs.
I enjoy teaching Child, Family and Community because as Montessori teachers, we don't just take children into our classroom, we take in their entire family. Adult learners will develop a plan to provide an inclusive classroom community for the families they work with.
